I think everyone agrees they suck. I bought ST-LOG on newstand of which seemed decent enough so I subscribed, but I have been receiving it for over 1/2 year and I have yet to have one that is decent. I always had STart for a while, but there was nothing to keep me subscribing. It seems the US magazines assume that all their readers have the IQ of a grapefruit, or do nothing but play games. This is not just the computer magazines, I sent an article on how to program musical data base systems, how to represent musical knowledge in computer programs so one could write programs in which one could experiment with musical ideas. They rejected it saying it was enough material for a book (read: too long) and that it was not appropriate for their readers. Come to think of it, most all US magazines write as if they think their readers are boobs. Look at Time and Newsweek. Jeff Beer
