Under TOS 1.4 (I have not tried the other versions yet) with the TOS14FIX either installed or not installed, if I *manually* edit my DESKTOP.INF file and fill the desktop with icons (I've only tried medium rez) and reboot, the icons are drawn properly on the desktop (all rows full), but (big BUT) no file in the system is recognized as an executable program! All files are displayed as 'text' icons, whether they are executable or not! If, however, I reduce the number of desktop icons to 28, then everything works as it should. Should this be considered a bug? OR am I to assume that the magic number of 28 is derived as such: 26 drives (A-Z) plus the cartridge (c) plus the TRASH icon = 28 icons max. Can this be gotten around? I thought perhaps that the TOS14FIX.PRG was going to take care of this... I have a specific purpose for doing this. Enlightenment (and an answer to whether this is so on TOS 1.0 and 1.2) would be most appreciated. A puzzled, Michael B.
