[comp.sys.atari.st] How to find out if a prg was called from the desktop?

Hello all,

   I remember that some months (or even years ago) there were some postings
about how to detect whether a program was invoked from the desktop or from a
shell (or any other program, for that matter).

   Could someone please either tell me how he/she does it, or point me to the
Info-Atari16 digest where the original postings appeared?  (Yes, I have saved
ALL digests -- 20 MB of text :-)

   I'd like to write a C or assembler function that I can use to make life for
desktop users easier, such as:

   if Desktop()
        Cconin();
   u
