Can somebody post or email me an updated TOS 1.4 incompatibility list? I am considering purchasing TOS1.4 ROMs - is it worth it? Brett L Maraldo -- -------- Unit 36 Research --------- "Alien Technology Today" bmaraldo@watserv1.UWaterloo.ca {uunet!clyde!utai}!watserv1!bmaraldo

I guess I have an entry for the TOS 1.4 incompatibility list - Turtle 3.0! There seems to be a problem creating and deleting folders in TRAMDISK (as reported by TTLEXEC). I have tried the newest TRAMDISK from GENIE and it doesn't work either. Now, I'm seeking suggestions for a good back up program! Anybody know about Codehead's FASTBACK? %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% % Andy Cassino % % uucp: hplabs!hplsla!andyc domain: andyc%hplsla@hplabs.hp.com % % Hewlett-Packard Lake Stevens Instrument Division % % 8600 Soper Hill Road Everett, WA 98205-1298 % % (206) 335-2211 % %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Incidentally, the new RAMdisk on GEnie is aimed at a single specific problem, which occurs with version 4.0 and higher of ICD's disk driver. It has no impact on anything else. It is backward compatible with all other systems. -- *George R. Woodside - Citicorp/TTI - Santa Monica, CA *Path: ..!{philabs|csun|psivax}!ttidca!woodside

I had a friend who had the problem you described, and it went away when he took the cache out of his auto folder. It seems Turtle does some low level disk accesses that can make the cache confused. -- Eric R. I've already had a couple of rounds at it, but I'm still missing something. I am using ICDBOOT.PRG 4.2.0. I have tried disabling all my AUTO programs and ACC's. I tried disabling the boot program's cache (this previously allowed me to use TURTLE with ICDBOOT 4.1.8 in TOS 1.2). I will have another go at it tonight. I'll try all the above again, and then try going back to earlier versions of ICDBOOT. Guess I'll even try booting off of floppy. Something's gotta work! %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% % Andy Cassino % % uucp: hplabs!hplsla!andyc domain: andyc%hplsla@hplabs.hp.com % % Hewlett-Packard Lake Stevens Instrument Division % % 8600 Soper Hill Road Everett, WA 98205-1298 % % (206) 335-2211 % %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Yay, I got Turtle running last night. The problem was the DOS/FAT buffers in the ICD boot program. Once their size was set to 0, everything ran fine. This lines up with reports of conflicts with CACHENNN, which also uses DOS/FAT buffers. Thanks for everybodys' help on this! %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% % Andy Cassino % % uucp: hplabs!hplsla!andyc domain: andyc%hplsla@hplabs.hp.com % % Hewlett-Packard Lake Stevens Instrument Division % % 8600 Soper Hill Road Everett, WA 98205-1298 % % (206) 335-2211 % %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
