Does anybody know if the X Windows implementation for the TT/x will be extensible over networks via TCP/IP transport? I understand not all implementations of X Windows support this. Just wondering what ATARI has planned. -kevin ramsiri@blake.acs.washington.edu

Anyone do any work with Mach? I wonder how hard, probably REAL *8^), it would be to port? Thinkin' in particular of the TT, when it & real Un*x is available. Is Mach PD? Ed June Fido 1:133/403

Well, given that virtual memory and other wonderful things are available on the '030, it shouldn't be too difficult. My understanding is that the only reason that Mach isn't totally free yet is that it relies upon BSD, which still has v7 code in it. I also was lead to believe that many folks (GNU ones, supposedly) are working to "free" the rest of BSD, so the whole shmeer can be given away. If this all works out, GNU may end up being based on Mach. There hasn't been a GNU bulletin since this summer, so they may have made some progrress since then... >Is Mach PD? I don't know what the restrictions are. Probably will end up being something like those that accompany X11, I would guess. >Ed June Dave Smythe dsmythe@cup.portal.com
