j.harris asks, about the DataFree memory upgrade board: > 2. the little baby board that should plug into the video shifter's socke > hits two transistors (Q4 &Q6) and won't go securely into the socket. I Most of these kinds of upgrades have to be generic enough to fit any ST motherboard. They generally require a bit of pushing and bending to get them to fit. It may be possible to *very carefully* bend the transistors down closer to the motherboard, being careful not to let their leads touch or break. I had to do this to get the AERCO upgrade to fit. One installatio I did in an STFM had an electrolytic capacitor in the way, which I ended up relocating to the back of the motherboard. Every case is a little different. > Added features..my version has what I think is the video shifter in a >rf shield and is labeled U49 w/ C070789-001 on the chip itself. If this is >not the correct chip, problem 2 above is cleared... The video shifter chip IS the one inside the small metal RF shield. You may have to do a little creative bending of the shield to get the ribbon cables through the cover, if you want to put it back on. As for the problems locating the proper resistors to lift, I'm afraid I can't offer any help. I don't remember seeing a Revision C board. I know it's a long, long distance call, but it might be best to call DataFree and see what they say about it... BobR
