I have tested the HP LaserJet IIp for 3 weeks before decided to order one for my Atari MEGA4. Here are what I have found: With 512K RAM It can print full page from Pagestream but 1/3 page from Calamus printing with Calamus take considerable longer time than SLM804. With Spectre I used MacPrint program and It can print at 300 x300, 150X150 and 75X75 Dpi. Macprint cames with soft Fonts therefore doesn't require extra font cartridges. Mac paint picture anc only print 1/2 page at 300x300 dpi. Page Maker 3.01 print out could get full page if there is no graphic on the page. You have to buy 1MB expansion RAM if you intend to print CALAMUS or Pagemaker documents. WordStar 4 in PC-Ditto mode print instantly with fonts from the printer itself, Underline, bold face and Italic works. You can write your own driver for 1st Word Plus quite easily but It won't print 1st Word Plus graphics. I have yet to try printing Pagemaker doc, with Adobe Type Manager.
