In response to Steve Yelvington: ISD has ordered a large batch of Linotronic interface boxes from Germany. The first batch came in a long time ago, but none of them worked. The new ones should be in soon. The boxes bypass postscript and send a raster image directly to the printer. They work with all Linotronic X00 models. Apparently, they are very fast. We have never stayed to watch them do the printing, but it takes only a couple of minutes for each page, from what I understand. A lot of printers have ordered the boxes, so it should not be too long before anyone can typeset their Calamus output. The Compugraphic fonts look _great_ in 2540 (or whatever) dpi. I'm sorry I cannot give more technical details, but it's my spouse who's the layout artist - I'm just a philologist. If you call ISD at (416) 479-1880, they can give you a lot more specific information. David Megginson, Centre for Medieval Studies, Toronto
