[comp.sys.atari.st] Atari Dealers

I guess things are better up here in Canada. I live in Toronto (pop.
2.x million) and I have four ST dealers in a fifteen-minute walk of
my apartment, and several more within a half-hour drive. Two of the
dealers near my apartment, Savetech and the Compustore, are as good as
ST dealers could ever get, and push (and display) Atari computers above
anything else. About 18 months ago, I was talking to a Timeworks rep.
at a trade show, and he said that Timeworks sold more ST software in
_Eastern_ Canada than in all of the US. Remember, the population of
_all_ of Canada is less than a tenth that of the US. Even my little
hometown, Kingston (pop. 60000) had a couple of ST dealers last I
checked.

Just another light note: I was marking the final essays for my
Business writing students. One student kept arguing that the best
land surveyers were the ones who kept on the breaking edge of
technology. The firm that he works for, in Cochrane (near James
Bay!) used a mega 2 and some kind of surveying software to stay on
that breaking edge!

Finally, the last nice thing about living to TO is having Atari
Canada and ISD only a local call away, and being able to drive up
to ISD (25 minutes) to get the newest Calamus upgrade or new fonts.

Before anyone packs up and moves to Toronto, though, remember that
even though we have a clean city and a microscopic crime rate, we
also have higher rents and a lower vacancy rate than NYC. Our
baseball team always beats the shit out of the Yankees, though.
