Please don't read this as a flame. I am genuinely concerned about what is going on here in Canada at Atari. Here in Hamilton we now have 3 computers stores that carry Atari, plus other music stores. I am in contact with 2 of the stores, and I get the picture that they cannot get any more 520s and 1040s. Haven't been able to for a few weeks now, since they sold out. And it's Christmas. Yet I hear (consistent) rumours about wharehouses chok full of STEs in Toronto. Two dealers each have an STE, as a demo, but can't get more. And they both tell me that they have the only one in Canada. Other sources say that there are 6 in showrooms across Canada. What's going on? Am I just putting too much stock in rumours? Please say yes. Another story. Some time during the summer, June or July, our club president made an appointment with someone at Atari Canada. They were going to come in and do a little show for us. Great! We put it in our newsletter, but not before confirming several times during the summer and the fall that they were actually going to show. Beginning of October, our prez calls one last time just before making final plans for November like this: 'We know it's your busy time of year, are you sure you can make it? We still have time to change plans.' Of course they would come. Just 2 short measly weeks before the meeting, they cancelled. Even sent a note of apology. A little time before that they had gotten rid of all their sales staff. Why? You have to have salespeople to sell, right? Have I got the picture right? I'd like to think I'm mislead. Does anyone @ atari, Allan, Ken, John, anyone, know anything? I'm curious. -- "After all is said an done, John Schmitt a lot more is said than done." johns@maccs.dcss.mcmaster.ca Don't blame anybody for what I say. SCHMITTJ@SCIvax.mcmaster.ca

Apparently your user group got the same Atari screw job that our user group got, along with many others... "Promises without the Performance" Hopefully, now that Sig Hartman is gone, this kind of abuse will be minimal... in the future... Now that Bob Brodie has the job, we can hope for more truthful relations with Atari user groups... BobR
