[comp.sys.atari.st] ROMmable C: compilers

kap@psuecl.bitnet (12/14/89)

I need a compiler for 68000 software development. Thu, the question arises:
Does anybody know of any C: compilers that produce ROMmable code?

Thanks in advance,

-Keith

Manx produces a C compiler for a number of machines called Aztec-C.
It's a nice compiler and among it's many options are ones for creating
romable code and S-record file output for creating eproms.

Another nice feature is that Manx has put in a -lot- of effort to keep
all of their compilers as compatable with each other as possible. As long
as you avoid using machine specific constructs or operations, you can buy
(for example) Aztec-C for the IBM, Amiga, Mac, Apple II, etc. and port your
program(s) to those machines with little or no effort...).

The only disadvantage to Aztec-C is it's not easy to find. Your best
bet would be to call Manx and order it directly (as I did).

The old version of the ST developers kit had a linker that also
allowed creating romable code and a converter program that would
generate S-record files for eproming...

Greeting-
Contact Microware in Demoines Iowa. They have a compiler that will do
the trick. Runs under OS-9 which is a multi tasking multi user reatime
romabel operating system that will run on any 68k machine. I am surprised
more people with ST machines don't run it. I would be realy frustrated by
not having OS-9.

Also check out the os9 forum on CIS as well as comp.os.os9.

MICROWARE (os9 Des Moines Ia.) (515) 224-1929

I have no conection with Microware I just use thier products on a 6809
based system with multiple windows and frequently two users at once.

If it didn't cost so much I would. They last I heard was that OS-9 68K
was over $500.
