I've received several items of mail about my recent posting on PageStream 1.8, and one of the items which came up was failure to generate correct PostScript files. I tried this out, writing to disk and send the files to a PS Jet+, and I find that text files with just Tymes and Helvetica type come out fine, but Dingbats get turned into the Symbol font! I haven't tried to dope this out yet, other than noting that PageStream seems to download the character font rather than using the resident Dingbats (which makes for a huge file, over 50K for one page of Dingbats), but if anyone figures it out please let me know. I did notice that with Publishing Partner I had to filter the PS file (the one with a *.GEM ending) to put it to a LaserWriter -- I think that the problem was the 0x4 at the beginning, but at least I could get the Dingbats and Symbols printed correctly. -- Bill Silvert, Habitat Ecology Division.
