Howdy folks. I have a small problem and I was wondering if anyone knows of a fix. I got a used 1040st for my nephews this christmas. The machine runs fine. But, it locks up when the reset button is pushed. The screen goes blank, the disk drive does not come on, and the power supply makes a high pitched hum. Cycling power gets the machine restarted. In normal use, this situation would almost never come up. But, my nephews would like to switch back and forth between OS9 and TOS. Does anyone know what the problem might be. Anyone fixed it? While I'm here, I have a helpful hardware hint of my own. When I was looking in the machine, I noticed that the screws holding down the power supply were loose. They were striped out. Who ever had been there before me had turned them a bit too hard. The ST sure wasn't made to be worked on. Anyway, I got a 5-40 tap and tapped the holes down to the bottom. A couple of 5-40 screws about a half inch long worked well. Now a least the power supply is secure. R. Piner
