[comp.sys.atari.st] SM124->MultiSync Board from IKS...

glk01126@uxa.cso.uiuc.edu (01/15/90)

A company in Germany called IKS has come out with a US$90 product
that installs in your SM124. I read a review in the January
issue of 68000ST, and they seemed to think it was a solid product.
It produces grey scale to emulate the low and med resolutions
of the ST. If anyone is interested in the address, or if any
Germans out there have the product, I'd be interested to hear
from you. I will order one in late January and post my experience.

Prices listed were DM129 for the board and chips
			   DM149 for the board assembled
DM259 (I think) to send in your monitor and
				 have it installed...

Four month ago I bought the assembled board from IKS.

The kit was preinstalled and all I had to do was to buildt in
the bw/color switch and connect about 15 cables inside the monitor.
This is not as easy than it seems:
You have to work very carefully, and check things twice before
connecting them. If you are experienced it'll took about 3 hours
to do all the stuff.
If it works : fine; if not : happy searching.

The bw quality is nearly the same as before the upgrade
but it very hard to work with 50 Hz color.
IKS recommends to execute a 50to60hz.prg as first file of your
AUTO folder.

If you have still questions, feel free to contact me.
