'compress.c' (Version 1.6, dated 9/12/84) compiles without error on our
new AT&T 3B2/400 but dumps core with "Illegal instruction" when executed.
Any and all help will be appreciated, especially since we hope to move
everything to do with 'netnews' from the Pixel to the 3B2 as soon as
possible.

Try compiling compress.c with the '-f' flag on your 3B2 and see what happens. There are a few floating point instructions generated, such as for figuring the percent compression. --Bob Tracy AT&T Technologies, Inc.
