Dear Imran Anwar,
RE: ST+ LaserJet IIP + Spectre .....
I have sent a long reply to you message on the RE: topic directly to your
Address sometime back but my reply bounced and I have no time to retype it
again. How ever this may benefit other netter too.
I have been using the LaserJet IIP since December'89 with MEGA4. I also use it
with Spectre GCR with MacPrint and Adobe Type Manager. Regarding the fonts that
you ask. MacPrint comes with several SoftLJ fonts which allow you to load only
2 Fonts into memory at a time. You should replace Apple BitMap fonts with
MacPrint Screen fonts in order to get correct spacing and format. ATM comes
with few Adobe outline fonts but you can buy extra fonts from them. Again it
is advisable to change the apple bitmap (Screen fonts) with Adobe screen fonts
for the same reason as mentioned before. You can get Adobe Screen Fonts but not
the Outline fonts from Mac-Archive@RICEVM1. Under IBM emulation I tested my IIP
with Wordstar 4 it print out with the printer internal font which can be selec-
ted with MENU button. Postscript can be printed out (with long waiting time)
using Go Script, a postscript software emulation from Laser Go. I used PC-Ditto
(Disk version) to run IBM programs at that time. Now I got my SuperCharger only
3 days ago but still busy testing it with AutoCad Released 10 and MicroStation.
Both are running very fast with 8087 co-processor. In fact it is even faster
than running with IBM-PC AT with 80287 Co-pro. However, these is beyond the
scope that you ask. I will report to the net when I have spent enough time with
my new SuperCharger. Please e-mail direct to me if you need more information.
I have order JetLink which said to be faster than MacPrint but have not yet
received it. For Atari Program I write my own driver for WordWritter 2 and use
TURBOJET for the GDOS based programs (Times Work DTP, Word Up, etc.)
