From: galaxy::malik (Karl Malik ZK1-1/D42 ) Re; dividing net.music into sub-groups I've noticed (correct me if I'm wrong) that most of the people in favor of splitting net.music into .classical and .rock seem to be rock people. There's a certain irony here. Classical music lovers are generally stereotyped as stodgy, conservative and fixed in their ways. On the other hand, rock lovers are generally catagorized as young, rebellious and willing to try new things. That certainly doesn't appear to be the case here. It appears that SOME of the rock lovers here don't even want to spend the time it takes to delete an article about classical music! Pretty stodgy, if you ask me. I'm a keyboardist and read Keyboard magazine. While I don't like mainstream rock, I'll always read an interview with a rock keyboardist. Who knows, I might learn something. Also, I find that a large number of rock people (Bowie, Zappa, Eno, Byrne, Emerson, etc..) mention classical (especially contemporary classical) composers as important influences on their work. They respect it, know it and listen to it. Consider loosening up; there lots of great music out there in all sorts of styles. ,Karl ...decvax!decwrl!rhea!malik
