The following describes the sequence I went through to try and get PC Speed to boot DOS from my SH204 drive (which, incidentally, did not work). 1. PC Speed software installed on drive C: (TOS HDX boot) 2. PC_INST.PRG used to assign DOS C: = TOS D: DOS D: = TOS C: 3. run PC Speed and boot DOS 3.2 from A: 4. format C:/s (this put IO.SYS,MSDOS.SYS and COMMAND.COM on my TOS D: partition which PC Speed was told was my DOS C: partition (from step 2) 5. exit back to GEM and re-run PC_INST.PRG to set boot from HD. 6. re-run PC Speed and ZIP, the system just hangs. What did I do wrong? I am still getting stack overflow messages if I switch menus in dBASE III Plus too fast (takes more effort than before I resoldered my board socket but it still happens). Any PC Speed specialists on the NET to address my problems?

I can't solve your problems, but share them. If you use version 1.25 of the PC-Speed software, fprget about it. This version was buggy. At least on 3 different hardware-configurations it was not possible to change DOS-partitions. also the stack-overflows happened (not only with dBase). Using version 1.30 has made things a lot better, but it still happens that programs hang up. But it's the nearly 'normal' rate and the problems do not appear continously. If you get other solutions than those posted in this newsgroup, youre kindly requested to email. bey! --ROLAND.. -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Roland Hoffmann | UUCP: ...!doitcr!nadia!delos!clubber!roland Kennenburger Str. 32 | | COMPUTER-FREAKS DO IT WITH INTERFACE 7300 Esslingen a.N. | STILL THE AGE OF AQUARIUS!
