Hello! I am suddenly in the market for a new computer (my five year old 520ST is somewhere in N. America...) and am thinking of getting a 4 Meg 520 STE (mail order prices on the order of 750 pounds sterling including mono monitor, much much cheaper than a Mega 4 -- I'll put up with the non-detachable keyboard for the difference in price :-). I have a couple of questions for those people that may actually have one of these beasts (expanded or not) in terms of compatibility. I am planning on using: gulam gcc GNU emacs Sozobon C TeX (any version) Minix and Uniterm. (talk about impressive assortment of "free" software! [except Minix, of course!) Has anybody had any problems using any of these with an STE? If so, what kind of problems? I'd like to hear from anybody that has tried any of the above on an STE, whether it worked or not. Please email and I'll summarize for the net. Also, what would people suggest as the best buy (based on quality and price) for a reasonably large (60-100 Mb) hard disc in the UK? Thanks, eric PS - I don't care about Atari's financial situation. :-) -- +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Eric S Fraga, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Edinburgh | |phone: +44 31 667 1081 x2955, e.s.fraga@uk.ac.ed or e.s.fraga@ed.ac.uk | +--------------------------------------------------------------------------+
