I just got around to pulling apart some recently posted binaries and sources. One that got my attention was the lharc binary (not compressed). Despite being slower than any other compression program I've seen, it won my heart since it will compress files more than any other program that I have for the ST. And the sources were supplied too? Couldn't be better. Unfortunately, it will not extract it's own source files. Lharc itself insists that there are no files in the archive. Two extraction programs, unlzh and lhxarc, find files, but since the directory separators are forward slashes (/) rather than the repugnant back slashes (\), the two programs just create (and overwrite several times) junk files. Great, a simple problem that I could fix myself, if only I had the sources... Is it really that difficult to substitute \ for / while extracting and / for \ when archiving? An old unsharing program that I modified (and posted a long time ago) was able to do it, and if I can do it, anybody can. Can I ask for a re-post of the sources (fixed or not) that can be extracted on an ST? Or does everybody in the world do all their extractions on *n*x?
