There is an ISO Fortran standard called Fortran77. In my experience most Fortran compilers on Unix machines have a close conformance to this standard. My knowledge of Fortran compilers for the ST is limited to Prospero's Fortran77 compiler which is a fully ISO validated. I have experienced no problems,( when programming within the standard ) moving code to and form my Sun at work. I think there is another compiler for the ST but cannot remember any details. Hope this helps Chris... +-=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--+--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-+ | mail: Chris.Forker@newcastle.ac.uk | Dept. I'm not sure what gwg means by a Unix standard, but Fortran-77 is described by a standard document ANSI X3.9-1978. Unix f77 includes some extensions as documented in a 1978 paper by Feldman & Weinberger. Since f77 is closely linked to C, non-Unix compilers generally do not share the C-like extensions. Both the Absoft and Prospero compilers appear to be full Fortran-77 implementations. -- William Silvert, Habitat Ecology Division, Bedford Inst. of Oceanography P. O.
