I've had a request to supply some more information about the two mail-order houses I mentioned about in a previous article. International Book & Record Distributors (IBR) offers recordings on the following labels: EMI U.K., Classics for Pleasure, Pathe Marconi (EMI France), Electrola (EMI Germany), Electrola Reflexe Series, EMI Denmark, Toshiba EMI (Japan), EMI Sweden, EMI Italy, ASV (U.K.), Bongiovanni (Italy), Calliope (France), Danacord (Denmark), Italia (Italy), Lyrita (U.K.), RCA Italy, RCA Italy Toscanini Edition, RCA U.K., Fonit-Cetra (Italy), Martini and Rossi Concerts (Italy), Soundfact (U.K.), Replica (Italy), Saga (U.K.), Concert Athens (Greece), World Records (U.K.) and Erato (France). Their address is: International Book & Record Distributors 40-11 24th Street Long Island City, New York 11101 Phone: (212) 786-2966 Andre Perreault International offers recordings on a large variety of labels. The labels they offer change every month, they don't have a warehouse and they don't back-order. If you don't get everything you order, you'll have to wait until they offer it again or try IBR or some other company. Let me quote from one of their catalogues: "Every month, Andre Perreault buys in bulk from record manufacturers in Europe. All (customer) selections...will be grouped to form one bulk order which we will air speed to Europe. This order is quickly processed and shipped to Andre Perreault. The containers are quickly unpacked and within a few days, your order is on its way to your home." The labels they offered in one recent month included: EMI U.K., Unicorn Kanchana (U.K.), Accent (Belgium), Hyperion (U.K.), Schwann (Germany), CBS Germany, Chandos (U.K.) and Classics for Pleasure. Their address is: Andre Perreault International P.O. Box 8310 Virginia Beach, Virginia 23450 Phone: 800-833-2400 For those who asked, HMV stands for "His Master's Voice", the classical portion of EMI records. The reason you see Nipper the dog on RCA in the U.S. is that RCA owns the Trademark here while EMI owns it over there. Whenever HMV records are imported, the label on the record jacket (not on the record itself) must be covered by an "EMI Angel" label. Until recently, they used to have to cover it with an "Odeon" label. -- Peter Gayde ihnp4!{iwu1b,ihuxp}!gayde AT&T Technologies Naperville, IL (312) 979-7186
