[comp.sys.atari.st] TimeKeeper

kgg@zinn.MV.COM (Kenn Goutal) (05/29/90)

When I turn off my ST, it forgets the time. Most annoying.
A friend of mine tells me he has a thing that plugs into the cartridge
port on the left-hand side that prevents this. It is called
"TimeKeeper", and he got it from Navarone Industries, Inc.,
21109 Longeway Rd., Suite C, Sonora, CA, 95370, 209.533.8349.
I called that number and got a recording saying that it had been
disconnected. I called information and asked for their number,
and they could find no listing.

Does anyone know if Navarone Industries still exists,
and, if so, where?

If not, does anyone else still sell this device?

Can anyone recommend a different device, still available,
that would do the job?

My friend tells me that it isn't actually a clock chip,
but rather that it prevents the CPU from shutting down completely
when your turn it off with the switch.
Sounds like this might prevent a cold boot from having the desired
effect. On the other hand, maybe it only keeps a *clock* chip
from shutting down. Anyone have any better knowledge of this?
