[comp.sys.atari.st] New Version of Pagestream Available?

jensen@cod.NOSC.MIL (Layne K. Jensen) (06/05/90)

Recently I saw a message somewhere that mentioned a new version of Pagestream
being available for an upgrade cost of $75 (I think). I have been patiently
waiting to receive word from SoftLogik with the details, since they have
in the past always sent out such information to registered PS users. But
so far, nothing in my mailbox.

Has anyone else received official confirmation/order forms by mail, or do
you have detailed information on what the new release contains? If so,
please post it.

Thanks,

I've had the same problem with SoftLogik. I even wrote a nasty letter
to them and didn't get an acknowledgement. I'm one of those fools who
plopped down the upgrade fee from the original Publishing Partner and
had to endure version 1.00 of PP Professional when it was too buggy to
keep running over 5 minutes. Nevertheless, SoftLogik doesn't seem to
think it's worth a postage stamp to let me know that a new version is
out.

No wonder people aren't interested in the Atari ST!

1.8 became available about six months ago. It crashes less often than 1.5,
displays imported bitmaps faster, and most importantly: it lets you install
and remove font directories ('suitcases') while you are in the program,
and it doesn't load in all ten zillion of your font files when you start it.

No other really major features were added, just things like 'Show Column
Outline' now shows it as a dashed line, small and large bugs were fixed, etc.

2.0, which people keep discussing, won't be available for a while yet.

If you want to talk to SoftLogik about an upgrade, they have customer
support at (314) 894 0431 during business hours (Central Time). Version 1.5
users like myself could upgrade for $10 or $25 (the $10 gets you a new
program disk, the $25 also has the font disk, which is basically unchanged,
and a copy of the new manual, which is much slicker.) I don't know if
the offer still stands, but it probably does. Give 'em a call...
