[comp.sys.atari.st] STE memory upgrades using SIMMS

phil@gec-mi-at.co.uk (Phil Chandler) (06/27/90)

To everyone,

Does anybody know if it is possible to install one or more 4Meg * 8bit SIMMS
into an STE?
This could give 4Meg with one Chip & up to 16Meg with 4 * 4Meg SIMMS with all
sockets filled.

 Thank you for your trouble,
Kevin Cooper

No, the memory controller in the STe will only handle 1 Mbyte and 256 Kbyte
SIMMs. (The SIMMs must always be installed in pairs also so that you have
16-bit wide memory.)
