I recently developed a set of programs, one for our VAX 8650 running
VMS, and one for my 1040ST, which allows me to download 8 bit binary
files (such as .ARC) from the VAX across the 7-bit packet switch network
in a Xmodemish fashion.
I did this mainly because of the slow transfer rates I was
experiencing using Kermit in 8-bit quote mode. The faster rate is
accomplished by doing some bit-encoding, and sending the data in
1k packets.
Are there any other people out there that have similar systems
and have are tired of the long transfer times? I would be interested
in hearing from anyone who would like to try this thing out and
give me their thoughts.
Please E-mail me at either of the addresses below.
Thanks,
Chris
