[comp.sys.atari.st] Waiting for HD boot - A software solution for a hardware problem :-)

jeff@quark.WV.TEK.COM (Jeff Beadles) (07/08/90)

I had the same problem with my ST. My solution was rather 'plain' but simple,
cheap and effective. I've got an imbedded SCSI drive on my ST, with an ICD
host adapter. (The SCSI drive w/ICD often takes two "reboot" cycles even if the
drive is up to speed.)

What I did was to create a blank floppy, and in it's auto folder is:
(in this order)
icdboot.prg
coldboot.prg

If the hard drive does not boot, then coldboot runs, and the cycle continues
until the HD is ready. Once the HD is ready, C:\AUTO is used rather than
A:\AUTO.
