I have a question for anyone who's familiar with the Omniswitch made by Talon Technology. I bought one of these a few months ago. The first time I plugged it in it was just to tap the audio output, which I wanted to pipe into an amplifier. After I hooked it up, my Mega came on with the screen rolling vertically. In fact, every time the screen showed something less than very bright, the screen started rolling! It would only pause if I had a very light colored display showing. This was using the standard SC1224 monitor that came with my system. I called Talon and explained the problem. They told me that I had an old version of the Omniswitch, and they would update it with a brand new model. I sent them the old one. After several delays and phone calls, I got a brand new model (this one is gray, the old one was peach-colored). I take it out of the box, test it with a new cable, and my screen still rolls! I have tried moving it to new locations and orientations. No improvement. It costs $90, and won't do anything for me. The guy at Talon sounded like he'd never heard of this problem. I've tried two different models and have it with both of them. The screen _never_ rolls when the monitor is connected normally. Has anyone else seen an Omniswitch in use? Gotten one to work properly? Or is this product a hoax? Before I pass judgement, I am going to take it to a friend's system and see if it works on his (expanded 520, old style). I'd like to hear any experiences that other users may have had with this product! -------------------------------------------------------------------- Scott Chilcote src@cs.odu.edu
