[comp.sys.atari.st] STs used to produce big-selling magazine - in Vietnam

grahamt@syma.sussex.ac.uk (Graham Thomas) (07/27/90)

I thought people might be interested to know that the ST is the mainstay
of the editorial office of one of Vietnam's biggest-selling magazines.
Toi Tre (hope I remembered that right) is a youth magazine produced in
Ho Chi Minh City. According to the presenters of the TV show I saw it
on (a travel/style show called 'Rough Guide to the World') it's a bit
tame by Western standards, but it does criticize the government and it
names names in corruption scandals. It's name means 'two-thirds':
two-thirds of the Vietnamese population is apparently under 30 years of
age.

Anyway, the show did some interviews in the editorial office, and this
contained lots of STs - some Megas, some in 520/1040 boxes. I couldn't
quite make out which program(s) were running. The screens showed a line
of function key icons along the bottom, so the program might have been
Word Writer or 1st Word Plus. I could be wrong, though.

I wonder what the Atari market in South East Asia is like? Anyone know?
