I realize that the STacy is probably old news by now, but I just discovered it so it's new news to me! :-) I just came back from the San Jose World of Atari show and saw several STacys in action. I'm *very* impressed with the look and feel of the machine. It's a little heavier than I expected, but no heavier than my ancient PC XT ``luggable'' so I wasn't too disappointed. Can anyone give me some more technical details about the STacy? I saw that you could plug in a mouse if you wanted; what about plugging in a regular ST monitor? A colour monitor? Does it use TOS 1.4? Does it come in a 2 meg version? What about upgrading it? Does it use SIMMs? Does it run all the regular ST software? Thanks and apologies if I brought up a recently-discussed topic, but I missed it! -- Diane Barlow Close close@lunch.wpd.sgi.com also close@cygnus.com I'm at lunch today. :-)

Diane, You can use a regular monitor with the Stacy. If you plug in a mono, it will run both screens. If you plug in color, it will shut down the LCD, and run the SC1224. It does come with TOS 1.4, the 2 Meg version hasn't made it here yet, and ram upgrades are difficult. Give me a holler at Atari and I will be glad to arrange a demo for you. I spok with you once before, when you were newsletter editor for San Diego ACE, and I was the prez of a group in Orange County. I'm presently working at Atari, 408-745-2052. Give me a holler. I'll be on the road starting Wed, thru next Tues (that's 8-8-90 thru 8-14-90). I'll be happy to arrange some hands on time for you with a Stacy.
