I need to know if an Atari SH204 20 meg hard drive can be upgraded by means of putting in another drive.. Like 'popping' out the 20 meg and putting in like a segate 80 meg or something. All information appreciated. Can it be done/how to/etc... Please EMAIL responses.. -Frank -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frank Rachel | Internet:Dnd15j9z@Umiami.Miami.edu | University Of Miami ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like 'popping' out the 20 meg and Yes, this is an easy upgrade. Make sure that the power supply can handle the requirements of the new drive (all of the SH204 supplies I've seen have the current rating stamped on them), then pull out the old drive and put in the new. If the new drive is an embeded SCSI drive then remove the 40 pin ribbon cable from the controller (or remove the whole controler) in the SH204 (the large board that sat above the drive) and connect the 40 pin cable directly from the host adapter (the small board above the power supply) directly to the SCSI drive. You can put in either a 3 1/2" or 5 1/4" drive. Ray Wallace (INTERNET,UUCP) wallace@oldtmr.enet.dec.com (UUCP) ...!decwrl!oldtmr.enet!wallace (INTERNET) wallace%oldtmr.enet@decwrl.dec.com ---
