Atari-people, hello. What are the main differences between: atari 520st, atari 520stfm, atari 1040st, atari 1040stfm, atari ????ste, and the atari mega? i'm saving up for a computer, and am thinking of an atari. i'm looking for basic information on the standard hardware configuration of the machines listed above, stuff like: standard amount of RAM installed, in Mbytes. amount of extra RAM, above the standard amount, that can be installed, in Mbytes; standard clock speed of 68000 installed, in MHZ; sizes & densities of floppy and hard disk drives available. what i'd use it for: Programming, plain and simple. i don't play games, i don't much care about razzle-dazzle windows and graphics and sound effects. (though i'm glad other people do---keeps software developers employed! ;) ) with that use in mind, which of the above would you recommend? and why? and what are ballpark prices for the pieces of a system (cpu, floppy/hard drives, monitors, printers)...??? thanks dearly for any info y'all can pass on to me. Lou Glassy icsu8209@caesar.cs.montana.edu p.s. pls email responses...i'm sure these answers to these sorts of questions have already been posted many times to the net. i just subscribed to comp.sys.atari.st this week... -- Lou Glassy (icsu8209@caesar.cs.montnaana.edu)
