I've sent half a dozen queries to Rodney with no luck.
Never route anything through snorkelwacker. It's a news-only system
-- it does not handle mail.
The "Path: " line in Usenet news is intended for preventing loops.
Abusing it to create UUCP mail paths is suboptimal at best and
often sends your mail into a black hole.

I have no problem communicating with Rodney and friends.  Some
addresses that I've tried are:
rodney@merkur.gtc.de (Rodney Volz)
uunet!mcsun!unido!gtc!aragon!merkur!rodney
In addition, you may send to a friend of his (see following).
Included are instructions to get Mercury UUCP through FTP.
