Thanks for all the answers on how to restore .lzh files back to their original state! I have downloaded the proper program from termi-- oops, atari@archive. Whatever. :) Today I got my TOS 1.4 roms and have happily upgraded from TOS 1.0. (I'll have to see how much of my software is incompatible with 1.4 before I finalize my judgement on how good the buy was...) The first thing I noticed was how fast screen graphics are! I know that TOS 1.0 had it's graphics routines written in compiled C; are TOS 1.4's graphics routines written in "pure" assembly or something? And does anyone have any stats on how much faster the graphics actually are compared to TOS 1.0? And how much of a difference speedwise are the disk access times (for both floppy and hard drives)? I have heard that these times have been increased as well. Thanx in advance for the stats (if they exist), ***** ******* Perry Pederson: email: n8742883@unicorn.wwu.edu * * GEnie: P.PEDERSON **** * Voice: (206) 676-7177 * * ***** * ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- +++++ + + + 'I' before 'E' except after 'C'.... +++ + + + ... It'll tell you. It sounds like you also need Quick ST or Turbo ST. They are both commercial programs and well worth their price. Quick Index is PD. An old version, which I don't think supports TOS 1.4, is on terminator as BENCH.ARC.
