From mann@frith.msu.edu (Anita Mann) : > Lately a problem has come back to haunt me with my monitor. Every time > there is a disk access my monitor receives interference. It is usually > only a mild jitter in the screen, but sometimes it gets worse. Has any- > one else had this problem? It sounds like your monitor and your disk drive (even if it's the A: drive) are too close together. Try moving them so they are at least 6 inches apart at the closest point, and then fiddle with one or the other until the jitter goes away. If the disk causing trouble is not the A: disk, then look at your cable routing. If your monitor cable and your disk drive cable run close together (side by side) for any distance, then you risk not only monitor jitters, but data corruption on your disk as well. (I once put a stepper motor and its cable too close to a signal conditioning module and its wiring. Blew out the EEPROMS in the SCM. Call me the voice of sad experience.) > Any help would be appreciated. You're welcome. Good luck. Regards Ray Depew HP Colorado IC Division Ft. Collins, CO rrd@hpfitst1 ----------

My SC1224 just recently took on an "hourglass" appearance. The local service personnel are not being real helpful (they work only 2 days a week, for instance.) While I can get it fixed here eventually, I will soon be moving away and won't be able to depend on Atari authorized service. Does anyone in netland know of a (hopefully legal) way I can get hardware docs for this monitor, so my many hardware-expert associates can fix it for me? -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | Chris Gonnerman (Mad Programmer At Large) csusac.ecs.csus.edu!tree!jcg | | @ the Tree BBS, Sacramento, CA ucbvax!ucdavis!csusac!tree!jcg | +---------- DISCLAIMER: These opinions are mine...
