To my great astonishment PC-Ditto II finally showed up a couple of days ago. I had ordered the original upgrade -- how many years ago was that? and early in 1989 I bought a DOS laptop since it was clear that AG wasn't going to ship. Letters requesting a refund were ignored. Finally it showed up. The board looks used -- the backing is already stuck on and the coprocessor jumper is in place. It took me days to get it working, since those bloody pins are hard to squeeze, but it seems to run OK. To my great surprise all kinds of programs, like WP, WS, QB, and 123 run on my ancient 520, even though PCD reports only 384 K free. Alas, by the time I got the pins tight enough to make contact, I seem to have introduced a jiggle to the screen (both in ST mode and in DOS). I don't know anything about the innards -- this is the first time I have opened up the machine -- and if anyone has an idea on how to get rid of the jiggle, it would be appreciated. Judging by recent postings, further attempts to contact AG would be a waste of time. -- William Silvert, Habitat Ecology Division, Bedford Inst. of Oceanography P. O.
