[comp.sys.atari.st] proportional mouse accelerator

jvl@idca.tds.PHILIPS.nl (J. van Loenen) (08/02/90)

Somebody asked for a mouseaccelerator. I saw one yet, doubling the mouse
speed. Yukh! Not all pixels are accessable anymore. (Pressing the right
button would set the speed to normal, but some programs use the right mouse
button!).
Here's another accelerator. It comes from STart, a Dutch ST magazine.
It will speed the mouse following the formula: n * (n + 1) / 2, resulting
in the following mousemovetable:

      mouse cursor
      ----- ------
        0 0
        1 1
        2 3
        3 6
        4 10
       ... ...

The program is an acc. butdoesn't appear in the menu.

The best mouse accellerator?

				MACCEL //

I got it from the tos1.4 fix arc. (you don't need tos1.4 to run it).
The cursor moves slow when the mouse moves slow but fly's across the
screen with a flip of the wrist. It also comes with a built in screen
saver and only uses about 1/2 a kbyte more memory than the little
accelerator that was just posted.

btw - I'm getting tired of reading all these amigite generated responses.

I finally upgraded to TOS1.4. It works fine, and fast, but there is one
problem; The proportional mouse accelerator promouse.acc, which was
posted to this newgroup some time ago, does not work anymore.
If there is a version of this program which works under TOS1.4, could
somebody please email it to me? (I do have maccel2, but I don't like it
since it is about 10 times as big as promouse.acc.)

Thanks,

Don't be too put off by maccel3. Although it takes 11148 bytes on
disk the resident portion is only 1340 bytes. The rest is all
configuration and installation stuff.
