The 1040ST and the HP DeskJet/DJPlus/DJ500 are a perfect match. > Enjoy. Funny, there was a big stink about it. Some (*other* 8-)) HP person claimed that the ST's parallel port was joke after some people's soundchips burned up, trying to drive the deskjet too quickly (graphics?), over, perhaps, too much cable. The solution was reported to be the addition of heavy duty TTL line drivers inside the ST end of a parallel cable. Don't blame me, I just remember this, and don't have a deskjet yet - looks *much* better to me now though! You are the guy who needs to get in touch with Neocept about WordUp and/or Fontz, right? Hope you (and anyone else curious about things in Camarillo CA) see my "Neocept new address" posting, otherwise email me for the latest. RBPIII

Again, apologies to those who may have been offended by my "it works for me" posting. At HP Corvallis, we never saw the problem because we never turned the printer off. It's such a low power-draw, and it's so quiet (YEAH!) that we never bothered with it. See the notestring on the DJ500 if you don't know what this string is talking about. Oh Yeah, thanks for the NeoCept posting. What happened is that they were in the process of moving while filling my order, and then I was in the process of moving while my order followed the USnail around the Old West. My order finally caught up with me, and as soon as I get my ST unpacked, I will be happy again. Regards Ray Depew HP Colorado IC Division rrd@hpfitst1.hp.com Disclaimer: Hey, I only work here....

News flash on the DeskJet! I was just in Elektek here in chicago and they had the DeskJet on sale for $330. With prices like that who would want a 250.00 9pin? They also had laserjetIIs for 800.00 or so (I am not sure if it was 800 or 899.) Cheaply yours Ron Rangel

See the note "DeskJet Plus Fixes (one more time!)" for instructions on modifying your printer cable to avoid the ST/DJ+ nuisance. Regards Ray Depew HP Colorado IC Division rrd@hpfitst1.hp.com
