I'm wondering whether there is an implementation for an X-server that runs on an Atari (Mega)-ST. I regulary use my Atari to connect to a Unix machine and I have the impression that it should be possible to do this via X. NCD X-Terminals can run X while communicating via a serial port and they claim that even on low baudrates (about 4800) the performance is acceptable. The NCD terminal has similar hardware than the Atari Mega-ST (certainly when we consider the screen of the NCD terminals is over 1000x1000 pixels), so I presume it is possible to implement an acceptable server on an atari. A search on the archive servers for both atari software and X software did not provide me with any clues. Anyone who knows about something going on in this direction?
