I've asked this question before on comp.sys.atari.st but got no useful replies - Hopefully you guyz know what you're on about! I've got a mono monitor for any serious work and a simple old colour TV for colour(i.e.games). The TV is connected via the aerial socket (no SCART socket) and the monitor by the monitor port. The problem is that if the monitor is plugged in the back the machine always boots into high res, even if the monitor is switched off. This means that I have to unplug the monitor whenever I want to use the TV. Is there any known fix for this? I don't mind a bit of soldering in the back of the ST but an external solution is preferred. I'm running an STe with 2Mb RAM. Answers on the back of a postcard to: csual@uk.ac.warwick.cu Cheers, Jas.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question r.e. my STe booting into high res when my monitor was plugged in, when I wanted low/med on my TV. For anyone who is interested, if pin 4 is low on the monitor port, it boots into high res, otherwise it boots into low/medium. A simple switch on this line will solve the problem, but be careful about using the wrong setting with the wrong screen, as the wrong scan rate could blow it. Alternatively you can just buy a monitor switch box from any good dealer for ~15 pounds, which routes the output through two separate plugs, thus avoiding any danger. Thanks again, Jas.
