[comp.sys.atari.st] Looking for "First Shapes"

rost@aqua.dec.com (BRost) (10/09/90)

Welcome to Atari-land time...

I'm looking to get a hold of a copy of "First Shapes", a children's package
from First Byte. This package has been highly regarded since it came out, so
of course, Electronic Arts, who markets First Byte has dropped it in the Atari
format. The mail order places that advertise it in START of course don't have
it and can't order it.

If anyone has a copy of this that would be willing to sell, trade, swap,
whatever, please e-mail me.

Thanks!!!!

I'd like to thank all that responded to my posting. I've located a copy of
"First Shapes".

For those who might be in a similar situation, here's the story that I
unravelled after some time on the phone:

Electronic Arts used to distribute First Byte, but that relationship terminated
some time ago. Dealers who only know of FB through EA therefore consider the
titles "out of print". Meanwhile FB has liscenced a company called SmartWorks
to sell their stuff, both to home and school users, but SmartWorks will only be
handling IBM-PC format. It turns out that you can order titles directly from
FB. The info in the Oct. 1990 START article on educational software
incorrectly gives the phone and address to EA, rather than FB. At some point
in the future, delears may actually be able to get ahold of the packages again,
in the meantime you'll need to call FB direct to order.
