[comp.sys.atari.st] Using ZOO to backup and restore/create relative subdirectories

steve@thelake.mn.org (Steve Yelvington) (10/10/90)

There have been a couple of (unanswered, I think) questions lately about
how to use zoo.ttp to automatically archive subdirectories and to
automatically create subdirectories relative to the current directory
when unpacking files.

There are two so-called "novice" commands to do this. They are not
explained in the helpscreen that appears when you run "zoo h".

The commands are:

zoo -backup file.zoo *.*
This packs everything in the current directory and all relative
subdirectories, preserving the (relative) path information.
                    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
zoo -restore file.zoo
This explodes an archive, creating any necessary subdirectories
relative to the current working directory.
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I'm told that an early version of zoo fails to perform these operations
properly on the ST. The version I have that works includes the following
header. Check the date and time:

 Zoo archiver, Version 2.01STg (1988/08/25 12:43:57)
 (C) Copyright 1988 Rahul Dhesi -- Noncommercial use permitted
Atari ST version by Daan Josephus Jitta (1989/05/31 21:21:41)
 Usage: zoo {acDeglLPTuUvx}[aAcCdEfInmMNoOpPqu1:/.@n] archive file
 ("zoo h" for help)
