Help! I just got access to the atari ftp archive in the University of Michigan. I even got some XLISP files from it. But now I can't get them to my atari ST. I am using Uniterm, and I purchased InterLink. But the kermit program on this Amdahl UTS machine and the Kermit program from the VAX/VMS always gives me an error on the 4th packet. I have tried all three checking techiniques that Uniterm has (CRC CHK1 CHK2), but they all fail. I have no trouble on ASCII files, just on binary ones. I do use ftp in the "I" (image) mode which I invoke by issueing the ftp command "binary". Please send me some ideas. I'm so close to heaven, but I can't get up the last step. Please send mail to "tamuts.tamu.edu!n160ao" and not to the whole net. Thanks. Mark Lehmann tamuts.tamu.edu!n160ao

Thanks to everyone that helped me on my problems getting my files back to my Atari ST from the mainframe. Here is what worked. I put the the kermit file server in binary mode doing the following: $ kermit ckermit> set file type binary ckermit> server And then putting the Uniterm program in kermit server mode. First: I had to go to the setup mode and make sure that I was using CRC error checking. THen I also bumped up the packet size to 1000 (not necessary but really convenient). Next: Control-T Click on binary mode. Click on the rest of the menus for whatever I want to do. This only worked under UNIX. I tested it under HP UX and Amdahls UTS. It worked fine under those, but I never got it to work on the VAX runnig VMS no matter what suggestions that I tried. I reveice about 30 suggestions and about 10 of them suggested the above. Thanks to everyone who helped. Mark Lehmann tamuts.tamu.edu!n160ao
