[comp.sys.atari.st] MiNT & MGR: How Opening a window ?

dingelde@zgdvda.zgdvda.uucp (Dennis Dingeldein) (10/16/90)

Hi!
Great thanks to Eric Smith for MiNT; It look's quite well after some
minutes playing with it. But if I start mgr and try to open a
window (initially there is none) I get the error message
	Can't get a pty
What have I to do here ?

Greets Dennis

You're welcome.

How much memory do you have? With 1 megabyte of memory, by the time MiNT
and MGR are loaded there is very little left. You'll have to remove all
ramdisks, etc. to get enough memory to open a window; also I recommend using
a fairly small shell (e.g. MiNT's init.prg). Make sure that the SHELL
environment variable is set to the full path and name of your shell, with
a command like "setenv SHELL c:\init.prg" (you can put this in the file
init.rc if you're using MiNT's default init.prg).

If all else fails, push CTRL-ALT-F1 twice and try again. The screen will
show a trace of what's happening as you try to open the window; from this
you may be able to see what's wrong.
