I have seen this info posted before, but sorry, I forgot what was said. \ With DRAM prices now down to $5.00 for 1MegX1 120ns chips, I feel that I could afford the $80.00 to upgrade my stock 1040ST to 2.5 meg using the "socketed 2.5 Meg upgrade" text file that was posted to the net last year. Is 120ns a safe speed, or should I go with 100ns?? Anyone have any experience with the upgrade that I mentioned? It was the one where you swapped 256K chips (16) for 1Meg ones. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | Capt Jeff Long longj@lonex.radc.af.mil | | Rome Air Development Center (315) 330-7751 | | Communications Networking Branch (DSN) 587-7751 |

I did this memory upgrade twice. Once on a 1040st and once on a 520stfm. The important thing is to figure out which lines are being rerouted because the are not pin compatible. The plans are good but not perfect. The new 1040st mothter-boards are very different tahn the layout of the motherboard he described. All iin all it was a lot of work 8 to 10 hours. the plans have a liitle flaw in them.\ If anyone has any questions email me at emerson@stat.berk.EDU..seeya.......
