Well, I have some new info on my floppy drive problem, which may pinpoint the problem (at least for people who know what is going on)...First of all, I took apart my one of my drives to watch if the head moved...it didn't seem to. When I click on the drive icon, it looks like the head starts to move, but then stops very quickly. I tried formatting a disk using DCFormat...the head moves across the disk and seems to format it. Later, when trying to access the drive, the same old thing happens, i.e. it looks like the head is starting to move, but then it stops and nothing happens. I tried to copy disks using DCFormat...it gives an error message indicating it cannot read the disk. I also tried using DiskToolBox to do something to a disk in the drive, but once again, I get an error message implying that it cannot read the disk. Does all this seem to imply that the controller has gone bad? IF so, how hard is it to replace one? Once again, thanks for any input...I'd like to get this straightened out asap. --Gerry ggreenbe@rodan.acs.syr.edu maxg@suvm (bitnet)
