I recently purchased a Toshiba 3.5" DSDD drive mechanism. I wish to replace the Chinon mechanism (SSDD) in my SF354 with this. The Toshiba is thinner than the Chinon. The back has a 34-pin connector (if I counted right) as well as a smaller connector. the board in the SF354 box has a ribbon cable connected to the Chinon via what looks like a `crimp connector' if that is a useful term. Likewise the smaller connector. How shall I do this? What is the right wire to pin connection? How shall I do this connection? Solder iron? (if so what wattage?, what type of solder, what type of heat sink if needed?) I want to use the full double-sided capability of the Toshiba, and I want it to recognize media changes. Can anyone help me? I seem to remember seeing posts on this in the past. Any help is _much_ appreciated. I have no docs on the drive. The front is black, but doesn't look any different than the ones with the Mac plus colored front panels. Sincere thanks Zeitgeist Busters!
