Well, I bit the bullet and bought a hard drive. I was planning on rolling my own, but $574 for an 85mb was too good to pass up. It was bought from D&P Computer Supply in Ohio. Mech is a ST296n 5.25", ICD Advantage host, D&P's own custom case (under the monitor dual 5.25" devices). The ICD software has improved greatly since they came out with their new boards. The enclosure is really nice, with a front mounted power switch, removable power cable, and cable access hole in the back (for installation of a floppy or such). My only minor gripe is that the fan is kinda loud (my hair flaps when I sit in front of the thing :-) ). Guess that's ok though, no chance of this one overheating! I was told that Seagate has dropped the price of the 296n's considerably, hence the low price. Just thought I would pass the word. I am in no way connected with D&P computers, other than as a satisfied customer.
