I have an HP Laserjet Series II fitted with the Pacific Data PostScript cartridge attached to my Atari Mega ST4. Using the Spectre Mac emulator, I have been happily using Word (and other SW) to prepare PostScript files via the Laserwriter printer driver and the SerialPrint Desk Accessory to print them out. Recently a friend with the same setup invested in an HP Laserjet III with the HP PostScript cartridge, but we can't get the printer to produce anything. Using the SerialPrint program on his system, data is transferred to the printer (and the "processing data" message appears on the control panel), but instead of producing hardcopy, the LJ III appears to just swallow the data. I have checked the SerialPrint settings on both systems, and they are exactly the same (^M for end-of-line, ^D for EOF). A PostScript file produced on his system will print out fine when transferred to my system. It looks as though my PostScript clone (PacificPage) is actually working better than the HP PostScript cartridge which has the official Adobe implementation! Does anyone have any idea about what might be going on here? Thanks in advance Geoff Coupe
