I'm setting up a hard drive for my sister to use with her ST for school stuff (specifically writing papers, and eventually her dissertation). What I'd like to know is what programs I should put in the auto folder, and what utilities I should provide to help her maintain her system. She is not really computer literate, and sees her ST strictly as a writing tool, but she does have some (limited) knowledge of the basic operations required to use the system. Since she is running TOS 1.0 on a 1 meg ST, I assume I should include the 40 folder fixer program, and I suppose I should also include some sort of hard disk backup program, as long as it isn't too hard to run. What else? Any suggestions for other "necessary" utilities, "bug fix" programs, or speedup routines? Free/cheap is better since she isn't gung-ho about spending money on computer stuff, but as long as the benefit/cost ratio is high enough, she's willing to consider anything. Basically, could people send me lists of what they have in their auto folders for TOS 1.0 machines, and what utilities they find indispensible? If there is enough interest, I'll summarize what I find out. Thanks, Don Allison don@col.hp.com I would just duplicate my setup, but 1) I am running hacked up hardware and TOS 1.4 with it's different set of problems, and 2) I'm also running a bunch of commercial stuff that I don't think she needs, and so am not excited about spending the money to buy another copy for her to give her features she'd never use.
